The Facer team regularly reviews all watch faces created by our community and selects outstanding designs to be featured every week. Our editors also keep an eye on the Facer community forum for watch faces shared and discussed there. Designers who positively contribute to the community by helping others and providing constructive feedback are also more likely to be selected.
Below are the key criteria and best practices to help improve your chances of being featured.
🕐 How to Get Your Watch Face Featured
When reviewing watch faces, the Facer editorial team looks for the following:
1. Descriptive Title
Your watch face should have a clear and descriptive title.
Include information about your watch face theme, inspiration, and features.
✅ Example: “A minimal digital face inspired by vintage LCD watches, featuring step count and battery indicators.”
❌ Avoid: “Just a cool new design!”
3. Unique and Well-Designed Look
Your watch face should have a distinct identity and clean composition. Avoid reusing common assets or layouts that closely resemble other faces.
✅ Example: A creative analog design with custom-made hands and textures that reflect a consistent theme.
❌ Avoid: Using default or copied elements from other faces, resulting in a generic look.
4. Legibility and Functionality
All text, numbers, and icons must be easy to read. Elements should not overlap or blend with the background. The watch face should function properly on all supported devices.
✅ Example: A clean layout with clear contrast between background and text, ensuring all complications are readable.
❌ Avoid: Overly busy designs or low-contrast color combinations that make information hard to see.
5. Supports 12/24-Hour Formats
Digital watch faces should adapt correctly to both 12-hour and 24-hour time formats.
✅ Example: Time automatically switches between “03:45 PM” and “15:45” depending on user settings.
❌ Avoid: Hardcoding a single format that doesn’t adapt to user preferences.
6. Supports Square and Round Formats
Ensure your design displays properly on both square and round watches. Test your face in Watch Face Studio or on actual devices before publishing.
✅ Example: Important elements like time and complications are centered and visible on both formats.
❌ Avoid: Placing elements too close to the screen edges or corners, which can get cropped on round watches.
7. Cross-Platform Compatibility
Watch faces that are compatible across multiple Facer-supported platforms — Wear OS, WFF, Tizen, and Apple Watch — are more likely to be featured.
✅ Example: Your face adapts correctly to all these platforms’ display sizes and formats.
❌ Avoid: Designs that only work or look good on a single device type.
⚠️ Tip: Avoid making your design compatible with Wear OS but not with WFF. This limits the number of users who can enjoy your watch face.
8. Account in Good Standing
Designers with multiple copyright or infringement complaints are automatically excluded from being featured. Always use original assets or properly licensed content.
