To help both designers and users better understand the battery efficiency of watch faces, Facer Creator now provides two real-time metrics in the Watch Face Stats tab:
🔋 Power Impact
This rating reflects the estimated battery impact of your watch face, categorized as:
- Minimal
- Low
- Medium
- High
Power Impact gives designers and users a quick snapshot of how battery-friendly a watch face is across different usage modes. A lower impact means better battery performance, which is often a key factor in a user’s decision to download a design.
⚠️ Note: Power Impact is influenced by multiple factors. While On-Pixel Ratio in ambient mode is one current contributor, other signals may also be included now or in the future.
💡 On-Pixel Ratio
This percentage indicates how many pixels are lit in ambient mode relative to the total screen area and weighted by color as some colors take more power to produce. Higher values often correlate with greater power usage, especially on OLED displays where dark pixels consume less energy.
- A low On-Pixel Ratio means fewer lit pixels and improved battery life.
- A high On-Pixel Ratio may contribute to a higher Power Impact rating.
✅ Optimization Tips for Better Battery Efficiency
Because Power Impact will be visible to users in the watch face listing, aiming for a Minimal or Low rating can help increase downloads and user satisfaction.
Here are some tips to reduce battery impact:
- Use fewer or smaller lit elements in ambient mode
- Prefer darker designs when possible, especially in ambient
- Avoid large animations or bright areas that stay on continuously
- Monitor your metrics in real-time via the Watch Face Stats tab
